Promoting your research

Increasingly, traffic to published journal articles comes from Google and Google Scholar searches. *After* your article has been published online as an Article Online First ( or published in an issue (, we encourage you to consider the following suggestions to increase the visibility, distribution, and citation of your article:

  1. Link to your research from your institution's intranet and website profile so you can easily share your research with colleagues and peers.
  2. Add a link to your article on relevant Wikipedia subject pages. (More and more students are using Wikipedia as the starting point for their research.)
  3. Share your article on Twitter and Facebook.
  4. Consider bookmarking your work with Mendeley (, a free service to help you to store, organize, and share the scholarly papers you are reading.
