Allergic colitis in infants☆☆

Allergic colitis is a condition characterized by inflammatory changes in the rectum and colon as a result of immune-mediated reactions to ingested foreign proteins. The condition predominantly affects infants in the first months of life, who have rectal bleeding (with or without diarrhea) and who generally recover promptly after elimination of the allergen from their diet. The antigens are usually derived from proprietary formulas or may be found in human milk as a result of the maternal diet.6
