Molecular clues in the Staphylococcus aureus puzzle
Article Outline
In this issue of The Journal, Faden et al describe clinical and molecular characteristics of staphylococcal skin abscesses in children in Buffalo, New York. In an accompanying Editorial, Frank highlights the importance of the careful molecular characterization of methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant isolates, and puts into context what such studies show about the quick-change artistry of staphylococci that makes them such formidable foes.
