Reducing injections in children with diabetes
Article Outline
It may be useful to include insulin glargine with a regimen of rapid acting insulin to improve glycemic control in children with Type 1 diabetes. Heretofore, this regimen was given in separate injections, increasing the number of daily injections required. Fiallo-Scharer et al evaluated mixing insulin glargine with rapid acting insulin in the same syringe. This combination demonstrated no significant differences in glycemic control in a before-after comparison, thus, may be useful in achieving good glycemic control without increasing the number of injections.
